Pulau Manukan is the second biggest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park in Sabah. It is also the most popular of the five islands. Pulau Manukan has a beautiful beach on its eastern tip and coral reefs offshore. It is ideal of snorkelling, swimming and diving.

There is also a swimming pool, a football field, volleyball and sepak takraw courts. Pulau Manukan is equipped with fresh water supply, power supply, a desalination plant, sewage facility and even a solar-powered public telephone.
Manukan Island Resort (tel: 088 302399, www.suterasanctuarylodges.com) provides the only accommodation on the island. It has 20 chalets for rent, with a restaurant, a swimming pool and even tennis courts.
Getting there
Arrange with boat operator at the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal. A return fare to Pulau Manukan should be around RM17 per person. You can also charter a boat for around RM200-RM250. There are also island-hopping tickets for RM27 (2 islands), RM37 (3 islands) and RM47 (4 islands).
