About Pulau Sibu

Pulau Sibu is one of the many islands off Mersing in the South China Sea in Johor. The name Pulau Sibu usually refers to the main island in this cluster, which is Pulau Sibu Besar (Big Sibu Island). Other islands in this cluster include Pulau Sibu Tengah (Middle Sibu Island), Pulau Sibu Hujung (End Sibu Island) and Pulau Kukus.

Pulau Sibu Besar is an elongated island measuring 6 km in length from east to west, and has a width of 1 km. The main settlement on the island is Kampung Daku, located on the southern part of the island.

There are lovely beaches on the eastern part of Pulau Sibu Besar. Off shore, on the northern part of the island are fine coral reefs. The sea is crystal clear and warm on clear sunny days.

Pulau Sibu Tengah used to harbour a Vietnamese refugee camp, but today it is where sea turtles come to lay eggs.
