About TuaranTuaran is a town to the north of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. The district, also called Tuaran, covers an area of 1166 sq km and has a population of 94,000 (2006 est.) with ethnic Dusuns forming the majority, followed by Bajaus and Chinese. The most prominent landmark in Tuaran is a nine-storey Chinese pagoda.The town of Tuaran is 34 km from Kota Kinabalu. As with many towns in Sabah, it has a farmer's market, called Tamu, which takes place every Sunday morning. The tamu is a good opportunity for tourist to catch a glimpse of the town in action.
